Metal roofing for barns and commercial spaces is one of the most popular items we sell: in fact, we’re known for our Signature metal roof panels throughout the region.

But adding clear or tinted panels to a new metal roof, or as a sidelight at the top of new barn walls, can be a great way to maintain similar durability while letting in some much-needed light! Our clear skylight and sidelight panels used in pole barn construction are made from polycarbonate, chosen for their durability, light weight, and ability to transmit natural light effectively and inexpensively.

Clear Roofing Panels for Barns and Storage Buildings

Our polycarbonate roofing panels are highly resistant to impact, temperature variations, and UV rays, making them a long-lasting option for getting more light indoors.

They are more economical than large windows or even electric light fixtures and provide a great level of light transmission. They are also easy to install and maintain, making them ideal for pole barns where natural lighting is desired without compromising on structural integrity.

We stock clear panels in 8’ to 16’ lengths. These are great for roofs and as sidelights.
We stock white polycarbonate panels in 12’ lengths. These are ideal for sections that are closer to the ground or near head height where you want to let light through but still want to maintain a level of privacy.
We stock opaque or “smoked” panels in 12’ lengths. These are also ideal for sections that are closer to the ground or near head height, where you don’t want passers-by to be able to easily see through, but you still want to be able to see outside and enjoy the benefits of natural light.

FAQs

Are there privacy clear panels available for the sides of barns?

Our “smoked” polycarbonate panels are the perfect privacy solution for settings where you want as much light as possible – but none of the privacy concerns. These allow light through but are tinted and “smokey” enough to keep prying eyes away.

How does polycarbonate compare to glass?

Polycarbonate panels are much more impact-resistant than glass, making them a safer option for roofs and also for sidelights. They are less likely to break or shatter upon impact, which is especially beneficial in buildings where machinery or livestock might be prevalent – in barns!

How long do polycarbonate panels typically last?

We expect our polycarbonate panels to last as long as the metal roof, though they may need to be replaced along the way depending on weather conditions or wear-and-tear. The good news is that these panels are inexpensive and can be replaced simply by unscrewing one or two “ribs” on the adjacent panels.
